Join us for a summer long series of Lionfish Derbies to safely remove invasive Lionfish from our gorgeous Miami waters!
The derbies will take place in the Miami Beach Marina, right in the heart of South Beach. This is an individual entrants derby all participating on the Big Com-Ocean, Deco Divers boat. Divers will be placed in smaller groups to be dropped on different parts of reefs & wreck treks.
Divers should be comfortable with advanced level depths (up to 130') and drift dives. Advanced Open Water Certification or higher required for the AM charters.
PM charters, divers should be comfortable with drift dives.
The entrance fee includes, two air tanks, weights, and derby entrance fee.
Extras can be added on such as Nitrox tanks, rental gear, and a certified Lionfish Containment Diver Guide.

There will be cash prizes for the Smallest and Largest Lionfish caught for the day (this includes the AM & PM charter). $250 for each.
There will be an overall Smallest and Largest Lionfish fish prize bag including, but not limited to, gifts and goodies from Salty Spines, Stream2Sea, Lionator Pole Spears, Lionfish University, and more!
Diver or not, stick around for Lionfish tastings, raffles prizes & demonstrations!
Proceeds from Salty Spines Summer Series Lionfish Derbies will be donated to support local area charities that support education, exploration, and conservation of the local marine environment.
The June 12 derby will benefit Castaways Against Cancer. The Castaways Against Cancer kayak every summer from Miami to Key west to fund cancer research and honor those who have fought the fight against cancer. Since 2000, the Castaways have raised over $1,300,000 towards funding cancer research. This year, all of the money raised during their 2021 Blackjack Tour benefits research done at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
